Pennsylvania Department of Education deputy secretary visits Lock Haven University

On Tuesday, March 19, Noe Ortega, Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) deputy secretary for postsecondary and higher education, visited Lock Haven University on the Schools That Teach tour to discuss the Wolf Administration’s Statewide Workforce, Education and Accountability Program (SWEAP).

Ortega met with university administration and also visited the Himes Rehabilitation Center on campus, where Stephen Streator, health science associate professor, and several of his students, performed demonstrations using equipment in the facility. He was joined by Robert Pignatello, LHU president, and Jonathan Lindzey, dean of the College of Natural, Behavioral and Health Sciences.

to the students in the rehab center. Many student-athletes also use the facility for rehabilitation from sport-related injuries.

The students present during the visit were either enrolled in the Master of Athletic Training program or undergraduate students majoring in health science and in LHU’s 3+2 program. The students also shared with Ortega their career goals and interests.

Student, Samantha Dotterer, said she has been able to work closely with the wrestling team at LHU and “it was great knowing we got to help with their success.”
